According to the FDA, several popular brands of dry dog food are being recalled including Natural Life, Nutrisca, Sunshine Mills, and ANF. The affected products, which include grain-free, chicken, lamb, rice and other flavors, come in various sizes.
The food you're feeding your dog could have dangerous levels of vitamin D in it.
Health officials say the food could have up to 70 times the safe amount of vitamin D.
Excess vitamin D in the diet can cause vomiting, loss of appetite, increased thirst, increased urination, excessive drooling, and weight loss. Vitamin D at toxic levels can cause kidney failure and death.
Pet owners whose dogs are showing these symptoms should contact their veterinarians.
