The Newark Central School District Athletic Department needs volunteers to serve on an advisory committee.
“Our school district has 26 different sports programs consisting of 56 different teams,’’ said Chris Corey, director of health, physical education and athletics. “Each year, about 550 students participate in these programs during the three seasons we play. We are always looking at ways this department and our student-athletes can be the very best they can be, and another way we feel we can achieve that goal is by having advisory committee members to help us achieve our objective. Ultimately, our mission is to develop great teammates and we want to ensure our department is meeting that goal.”
Corey said advisory committee representatives will include coaches and former coaches of boys and girls varsity, junior varsity, and modified teams; board of education members and school administrators; student-athletes; parents; alumni; and community members.
The committee, led by Corey, will meet three or four times during the spring season. Interested volunteers should email by Feb. 8.
