Canandaigua Primary School fifth-grader Brody Scharr appears in commercials for the restaurant chain
CANANDAIGUA — A Canandaigua boy is in the national spotlight, starring in commercials for Chuck E. Cheese's.
Brody Scharr, 11, is a fifth-grader at Canandaigua Primary School. He was one of 9,000 kids to audition for the role.
After learning about the gig from his talent agency, WMA Rochester, Scharr shot an audition video on his mom's phone. He got a call-back, spoke to the director, and then he and his parents were flown to Miami to shoot the commercial.
So, what made him stand out? He says it was his out-of-the-box video.
"We did the audition video in my grandma's basement," Scharr said. "We used stuff like laser tag guns, and I was hitting stuff off tennis rackets, and I used a lot of gadgets and stuff."
Scharr says some kids at school are now calling him "Chuck E. Cheese Kid."
Besides being a commercial star, Scharr is a good student and class president, but he's got his eye on the silver screen. Right now, he's shooting a movie called "Odd Man Rush." He plays the main character's younger self.
