Accused of having sex with a Geneseo student; he also was contracted to Bloomfield and Middlesex

CONESUS — A former school athletic trainer for the Geneseo Central School District, who is accused of rape, was released on bail.

Federal prosecutors say a judge also ordered 30-year-old Austin Pratt to home confinement with an electronic tracking device.

Investigators say Pratt had a sexual relationship with an underage student, off school property.

Pratt worked for Thompson Hospital and was contracted out to the Geneseo school district as an athletic trainer. Pratt was also under contract in the Midlakes and Bloomfield school districts.

Pratt facing federal charges of enticing a minor and production of child pornography. According to federal prosecutors, parents of the victim notified state police after they found text messages on her cell phone from Pratt. They say the messages included an exchange of nude photos. The victim told investigators that Pratt began texting her back in November. Investigators say Pratt had sex with the minor at her home back in January. He faces a minimum penalty of 15 years in prison with a maximum of 40 years and a $250,000 fine.

He is also charged with rape, criminal sex act and endangering the welfare of a child.
