Over 600 audience members recently listened to musicians in grades 4-12 perform in the annual Cavalcade of Bands concert at Newark High School.
The concert showcased over 300 students from the NHS Concert Band and Wind Ensemble, conducted by Robert Humphrey; Beginning Band and Continuing Band, conducted by Cynthia Briggs and Dominic Vassallo; and the sixth-, seventh- and eighth-grade bands from Newark Middle School, conducted by Dave Schwind.
“The bands played to a full house and enjoyed listening to each other,” said Briggs, who is the music department leader for Newark Central School District. “To be able to hear seven bands play in an hour is a testament to the amazing music department and students we have in Newark schools. Each group had the amazing opportunity to perform for each other and hear either where they came from or where they are going. This is one of our community’s favorite events at which people can hear the progression of our department.”
