Several fire departments responded to a large fire at a salvage yard in Williamson early Monday morning.

Fire crews received a call around 3:30 a.m. after someone in the area heard a loud bang and saw large flames coming from the Wilbert’s U-Pull It Auto Salvage Yard.

Upon arrival, firefighters found four vehicles on fire near the crusher. Investigators are working to find out what caused the cars to catch fire.

Officials  say there are about 24 vehicles on the property waiting to be demolished.

A portion of Route 104 was shut down to traffic between Pound Road and East Townline Road, but has since reopened.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
