The Newark Rotary Club, in partnership with Newark Public Library, recently held International Night as an evening meeting.
Local Rotary youth exchange students were invited to introduce themselves and their countries, and share cultural information and food with Newark Rotarians and guests.
Seven students participated: Eliana Catigiu and Elliot Dahl from Newark Rotary, Joaquin Ellena from Victor-Farmington, Elisa Sonnay from Ontario-Walworth, Ignacio Illanes from Palmyra-Macedon, Arianna Ferretti from Clifton Springs, and Newark senior Carson Jordan, who will study in Slovakia next year.
The night featured an international dinner buffet; desserts served by Interact students Jasmine Bueso, Emma Correia and Alex Ventura; as well as cultural displays by club members Hannelora and Helmuth Reinhardt about Croatia and Norma Madayag and Gary Reilly on the Philippines.
Newark Rotary annually hosts inbound students and sponsors outbound students. It currently supports Newark students Grace Kreuser studying in Denmark and Lindsay Whiting studying in Italy.
The youth exchange program invites local families to host inbound students for a portion of the school year. Call (315) 447-0276 for information.
