Now in its sixth year, the annual student painting exhibition at Main Street Arts, 20 W. Main St., Clifton Springs, is a visual celebration of young artistic talent.
Nearly 300 students in grades 6-12 from 12 schools will be featured in the second-floor gallery with an open house on May 4 from 1 to 3 p.m.
In preparation for the exhibition, students received a blank 5-by-7 canvas to create a painting inspired by this year’s theme: “WILD!” Students were encouraged to make a painting with their depiction of something uncontrolled, unrestrained, undisciplined, unruly, rowdy or disorderly.
Main Street Arts will present cash awards to students in first, second and third place, along with recognition at each grade level.
This year’s artists attend Fairport High School, Gananda Middle School in Walworth, Lyons HS, Mendon HS in Pittsford, Midlakes HS in Clifton Springs, Newark HS, North Rose-Wolcott HS, Palmyra-Macedon MS, Penn Yan Academy, Pittsford Sutherland HS, Red Jacket HS in Shortsville and Victor Intermediate School.
The exhibition will run from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Tuesdays-Saturdays, May 4-29. Call (315) 462-0210, email or visit for information.
