Does the state have your money? There's $15.5 billion in unclaimed funds.

Staff from the New York Comptroller's Office will attend community events this month to help people search for lost and forgotten money.

They will be in Finger Lakes June 29 and 30 at the Varick Winery and Vineyard Cherry Festival on State Route 89 in Romulus.

Lost or unclaimed money comes from forgotten savings accounts, lost paychecks, uncashed check, and stocks or bonds.

Some accounts hold money that's been forgotten since the 1940s.
