Wayne County Sheriff Barry Virts announced the Stop-DWI Crackdown for Labor Day will run Aug. 14-Sept. 2.
This initiative is linked with other law enforcement initiatives already done at key times of the year. It is promoted under a county and statewide umbrella.
The Stop-DWI Crackdown is a locally driven program with all Wayne County law enforcement agencies participating and working together. Police departments, the New York State Police and the Sheriff’s Office are coordinating awareness, education and enforcement activities.
Research demonstrates that highly visible, publicized efforts like the Stop-DWI Labor Day Crackdown can reduce the occurrence of DWI.
