Afterschool programming will start on Sept. 9 for grades K-6 in the Lyons and Newark school districts.
Programs run from 2 to 6 p.m. at Lyons Elementary School and Kelley Intermediate School. Busing is provided from Lincoln and Perkins schools.
Wayne County Action Program Inc. runs these programs on behalf of the respective districts, and work with teaching and support staff to provide a safe and structured place for children to go after school.
There is no cost for children to attend in Lyons; Newark children utilizing free/reduced lunch also can attend for free.
Families enrolling in these programs will have access to Empower, which conducts free energy audits and provides ways to make homes more energy efficient.
