Four Newark High School musicians recently sang the national anthem at the ribbon-cutting for the 84,000 square foot outpatient VA medical clinic on Calkins Road in Henrietta.
Vocal music teacher Kate Flock said the quartet did a “fantastic job singing a more challenging arrangement of the ‘Star Spangled Banner’ that requires a lot of close harmonies.” Vocalists were sophomore Cody Acquista, junior Jaston Brooks, and seniors Ben Cepulo and Jack Comella.
After receiving and accepting the invitation to perform, Flock decided to feature an all-male quartet called Reserved. She contacted the students over the summer and they agreed to perform. Flock gave them music on the first day of school.
Reserved received inquiries about performing at future events after their performance. State Sen. Pam Helming, R-54th District, said the quartet did a great job during a visit to the Newark Central School District.
