Woman failed to provide provide kitten with needed medical treatment for injured tail, according to the humane society

Ontario County Humane Society charged Amber L. Westenberger 29, of Farmington, with animal cruelty and animal abandonment. Westenberger was arrested on the cruelty charge following an incident Sept. 21 when she was found to have a 5-month old dog and a small kitten at her residence, according to the humane society. Westenberger failed to provide substance for the kitten in the form of medical treatment for a portion of the tail that was injured. The end of the tail was missing and needed immediate medical attention, according to the report. Both animals were removed from the residence.

Westenberger was also charged with animal abandonment, after she abandoned the animals at the Ontario County Humane Society. Westenberger was issued appearance tickets and will be appearing in the Farmington Town Court for the cruelty case and appearing in the Hopewell Town Court for the abandonment charge.
