An upcoming sidewalk improvement project at Lakeshore Drive and state Route 364 in the towns of Canandaigua and Hopewell and the city of Canandaigua is aimed at improving pedestrian safety and Americans with Disabilities Act compliance.

There will be no initial public meeting for this project because of COVID-19 restrictions. Documents illustrating the project will be available beginning Monday, May 11, at

The project limits are from the intersection of Routes 5 and 20 with Route 364 southward to the intersection of Route 364 with Lakeshore Drive and then eastward to the intersection of Lakeshore Drive with Routes 5 and 20.

The project will consist of the construction of eight-foot-wide concrete sidewalks, Americans with Disabilities Act compliant curb ramps, and pedestrian level lighting on both sides of NY Route 364, as well as along the north side of Lakeshore Drive.

There may be lane closures, but no detours are anticipated during construction.
