Deputies said they arrived to find the machine engulfed in flames within feet of a large pole barn.
Ontario County Sheriff’s deputies and Seneca Castle Fire Department responded Saturday at 5:16 p.m. to the J. Minns farm on Seneca Castle Road for a reported skid steer on fire. Deputies said they arrived to find a newer skid steer machine engulfed in flames within feet of a large pole barn. Firefighters extinguished the fire quickly, preventing it from spreading to the barn and nearby cattle.
Deputies reported that the fast response by the fire department resulted in saved property and potentially saving livestock.
An investigation determined that the skid steer had been used earlier in the day, parked near the barn and went unobserved for some time until the fire was discovered. Deputies do not suspect there was any suspicious activity.
