Phelps-Clifton Springs school district voters approved the $37,488,003 budget proposal for 2020-21, in a vote of 1,292 in favor to 482 opposed. The proposal represented a 3.29% spending increase and a 2.75% tax rate increase..
Voters also approved the creation of a capital reserve fund to pay for renovations, additions and improvements to district facilities. It is to be funded in an amount not to exceed $4 million from year-end surplus funds, state aid reimbursements and other appropriations, according to the district website. the fund was approved 1,378-385.
Voters OK'd spending up to $329,139 for school bus purchases, to be paid from a bus purchase reserve fund. It passed 1,393-379.
Voters also authorized $84,000 in spending for the Phelps Community Memorial Library and the Clifton Springs Library, by a 1,304-464 vote. This measure is separate from the district budget.
Elected to the Board of Education were Jacob Amidon (1,423 votes), Matthew Murphy (1,432) and Sheri Scherbyn (1,426).
