Macedon Library reopens with modified services
After 12 weeks of providing virtual programming to the community while the state was on PAUSE, the Macedon Public Library board created a modified service plan for reopening on June 29.
The library will implement curbside service for all community members to check out items in the MPL collection. Items from other libraries within the Pioneer Library System will not be available. Patrons are encouraged to use the OWWL catalog to locate items available for borrowing.
The request form at bit.ly/3eft9SZ allows for up to five items. It requires basic information such as patrons’ names, car makes and models, license plate numbers, library card barcode numbers, titles and formats of up to five items being ordered for check out, and preferred methods of being contacted. Patrons should not use the hold system at this time.
Patrons without internet access or a computer, or those who do not wish to use the online form, can call 315-986-5932 to place an order.
The library will contact patrons to schedule a pick-up time. When picking up items, patrons will call to let staff know when they parked in the library’s lot. Anyone using a landline can call before leaving home.
Once parked, staff will place the items in patrons’ trunks while they stay in the car. If driving an open-bed truck, lower the tailgate and have an open plastic tote ready for the items.
Hourlong computer appointments can be scheduled by calling the library. Patrons are required to follow social distancing protocols and wear a face mask/covering.
Those needing copies, printing or faxing can call for an appointment. Staff members will ask for the job details, perform the task and collect payment. Faxing costs $1 for the first page and 50 cents for each additional page; printing and copies cost 25 cents per page.
MPL will be open from 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, and noon to 8 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays. This modified service plan will be in effect through July 31.
