ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) — The Rochester Police Department has revealed new details on the Pennsylvania Avenue mass shooting, including identifying the victims.

The department says that 2019 East High graduate Jaquayla Young and 2019 University Prep graduate Jarvis Alexander were the two victims who died in the shooting. Both were 19. In addition, 14 others were injured by the gunfire and still more by the stampede that resulted from the incident. None of those other injuries are believed to be life-threatening.

Police say that the shooting, which took place around 12:30 a.m. on Saturday, took place at a party that had been meant to be a smaller, invitation-only affair. However, it had grown in size as other events in the area had let out. An argument escalated among some of those attending, and over 40 shots were fired by three or four suspects over a minute's time.

It is not believed that Young or Alexander were the intended targets.
